MPI’s oil fill melt pressure transducers and transmitters are recommended for applications requiring lower temperature capabilities (350°C/650°F) and/or those where FDA/USDA regulations must be met, such as food, medical, or pharmaceutical processes.
Process pressure deflects the measuring diaphragm, which transfers the pressure through a system of small, oil-filled capillaries to a second diaphragm, located inside the electronics housing (can). Mounted on this second diaphragm is a strain gauge that measures the deflection and generates an electrical signal proportionate to the process pressure.
For easy calibration at 80% of full scale, an internal Rcal resistor is mounted on the strain gauge. MPI melt pressure transmitters require special melt pressure indicators that provide six-wire strain gauge input and zero and 80% calibration. Our oil fill melt pressure transmitters are suitable for PLC applications with 4-20mA or 0-10VDC signal input.
